Will you be “one” of the 700?
As of September 2008, The Lighthouse offered shelter to 325 women and children who were either homeless or victims of domestic violence. Sadly, at least that many were turned away due lack of space. In fact, women, children and even expectant mothers could not be served because of the lack of space.

The Lighthouse provides long-term shelter for women and children to allow time to recover from past negative experiences, set positive goals and make positive changes in their lives. While at the shelter, women are required to seek employment, do volunteer work and/or go back to school. Residents may also receive counseling and job skills training. The shelter operates 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, 365 days per year. Daily operations are covered by numerous fundraisers, an occasional grant and donations from churches and individuals. We are attempting to raise funds by asking 700 people to donate $31.00 in the month of October.

That is just $1.00 per day.

For such a small sacrifice you could literally help make the difference in the life of a hurting individual. The Lighthouse needs your support to continue to provide safe housing to the needy women and children in our area. Won’t you please consider making this pledge?
